Harry Smith created “Early Abstractions” (1946-57) which were a series of short animated films that were created in a very different style then most other animation of the time. He created these films by painting the film and showing different shapes and lines in a weird abstract way. Early Abstractions featured 10 short animated films, which include 1-5,7, and 10 created by Harry Smith. The numbers 6, 8, and 9 are presumed to be lost. The numbering suggests that there is a link between each of the individual films. Smith wanted Early Abstraction in all its parts to be look at as one big piece instead of 10 smaller ones.
Robert Breer created his style of animation really different and unique way. He used lines and flashing lights a lot in his animation. When you watch some of his animations his work mirrors the look of a flip book, because in his animations he would show color and moving objects. The objects in his animations would appear to me in motion because of the flashing between the two.
